▍SIRIM Certification

SIRIM is a former Malaysia standard and industry research institute. It is a company wholly-owned by Malaysian Minister of Finance Incorporated. It was consigned by Malaysian government to work as a national organization in charge of standard and quality management, and push the development of Malaysian industry and technology. SIRIM QAS, as the subsidiary company of SIRIM, is the only gateway for testing, inspection and certification in Malaysia.

At present rechargeable lithium batteries certification is still voluntary in Malaysia. But it is said to become mandatory in the future, and will be under management of KPDNHEP, the trading and consumer affair department of Malaysia.

▍Why MCM?

● Established a good technical exchange and information exchange channel with SIRIM QAS who assigned a specialist to handle with MCM projects and inquiries only and to share the latest precisely information of this area.

● SIRIM QAS recognizes MCM testing data so that samples can be tested in MCM instead of delivering to Malaysia.

● To provide one-stop service for Malaysian certification of batteries, adapters and mobile phones.

On September 14, 2023, the CNCA revised and published the “Mandatory Product Certification Implementation Rules for Electric Bicycles”, which will be implemented from the date of release. Meanwhile “Mandatory Product Certification Implementation Rules for Electric Bicycles” (CNCA-C11-16:21) repealed at the same time.
The new certification rules have added electrical and adapter requirements for electric vehicles. In addition to meeting GB 17761 “Safety Technical Specification for Electric Bicycles”, it is also necessary to meet:
GB 42295 “Electrical Safety Requirements for Electric Bicycles” (w.e.f. January 1, 2024, enterprises can implement in advance on a voluntary basis)
GB 42296 “Safety Technical Requirements for electric Bicycle Chargers”
On September 27, 2023, the CNCA TC03 Technical Expert Group announced a resolution on the division of compulsory product certification units and measurement tolerance for lithium-ion batteries.On September 27, 2023, the CNCA TC03 Technical Expert Group announced a resolution on the requirements for mandatory product certification of portable power supplies for camping use. It mandates that the portable power supply product name in the CCC certification should be noted as “not intended for installation and use only in the outdoor environment”, if the product name contains the words “camping” or “outdoor”. And manufacturers should note the warning information such as the product shall not be rained or flooded in the product manual.
