▍What is TISI Certification?

TISI is short for Thai Industrial Standards Institute, affiliating to Thailand Industry Department. TISI is responsible for formulating the domestic standards as well as participating in international standards formulation and supervising the products and qualified assessment procedure to ensure the standard compliance and recognition. TISI is a governmental authorized regulatory organization for compulsory certification in Thailand. It is also responsible for formation and management of standards, lab approval, personnel training and product registration. It is noted that there is no non-governmental compulsory certification body in Thailand.

 

There is voluntary and compulsory certification in Thailand. TISI logos (see Figures 1 and 2) are allowed to use when products meet the standards. For products that have not yet been standardized, TISI also implements product registration as a temporary means of certification.

▍Compulsory Certification Scope

The compulsory certification covers 107 categories, 10 fields, including: electrical equipment, accessories, medical equipment, construction materials, consumer goods, vehicles, PVC pipes, LPG gas containers and agricultural products. Products beyond this scope are fall within the voluntary certification scope. Battery is compulsory certification product in TISI certification.

Applied batteries:Secondary cells and batteries(containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes – safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells, and for batteries made from them, for use in portable applications)

Looking up in the National Public Service Platform for Standards Information, we will find out a series of standard formulation and revision led by China Electric Power Research Institute about electrochemical storage have launched. It involves the revision of lithium-ion battery standard for electrochemical energy storage, the technical regulation for mobile electrochemical energy storage system, the management regulation for grid connection of user-side electrochemical energy storage system, and the emergency drill procedure for electrochemical energy storage power station. Various aspects are included such as battery for electrochemical system, grid connection technology, current converter technology, emergency treatment, and communication management technology.
As Double Carbon Policy drives new energy development, to ensure the smooth development of new energy technology has become the key. The development of standards thus springs up. Otherwise, the revision of series of electrochemical energy storage standards indicates that electrochemical energy storage is the focus of new energy development in the future, and the national new energy policy will lean to the field of electrochemical energy storage.
The standards drafting units include National Public Service Platform for Standards Information, State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd.- the Electric Power Research Institute, and Huawei Technologies Co., LTD. The involvement of Electric Power Research Institutes in the standard drafting indicates that the electrochemical energy storage will be the focus in the field of electric power application. This concerns about energy storage system, inverter and interconnection and other technologies..
Huawei’s participation in the development of the standard could pave the way for further development of its proposed digital power supply project, as well as Huawei’s future development in electric energy storage.
