GB/T 34131-2023 “Technical Specifications for Lithium-ion Battery Management Systems for Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Stations” will be implemented on October 1, 2023. This standard applies to lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and lead-acid batteries for power energy storage. Evaluation of battery management systems for (carbon) batteries, flow batteries, and water electrolysis hydrogen production/fuel cells.
Compared with the 2017 version, there are many changes in the 2023 version. See the table below for details:
General Requirements
Environmental requirement
Technical Requirement
Test Requirements
Mark and Package Requirement
In Conclusion
Now whether it is the bidding requirements of domestic energy storage power stations or the requirements of safety standards for energy storage power stations, it has clearly stipulated that the energy storage battery management system needs to meet GB/T 34131 requirements, such as GB/T 42288 “Safety Regulations for Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Stations”. Compared with old version, the new version has more detailed and stricter requirements. Energy storage companies should make sufficient preparations to meet the standard requirements by covering all the standard requirements starting from product design.
