Applicable scope:

GB 40165-2001: Lithium ion cells and batteries used in stationary electronic equipments — Safety technical specification has been published recently. The standard follows the same pattern of GB 31241 and the two standards have covered all lithium ion cells and batteries of electronic equipment. The stationary electronic equipment applied to GB 40165 includes:

a) Stationary information technology equipment (IT equipment);

b) Stationary audio and video equipment (AV equipment) and similar equipment;

c) Stationary communication technology equipment (CT equipment);

d) Stationary measurement control and laboratory electronic equipment and similar equipment.

In addition to lithium ion cells and batteries applied to above equipment, the standard is applicable to lithium ion cells and batteries used in UPS, EPS and others.

Test Items：

 Standard Implementation：

GB 40165 was published on 2021-04-30 and will be implemented 2022-05-01 with 1 year of transitional period. After the period, products applied to the standard shall comply with the standard specification.

Besides, it is heard through internal CQC personnel that, CQC is developing voluntary specification concerning the standard. The voluntary specification is estimated to be released in the second half of this year.
