CE Mark Scope:
The CE mark is only applicable to products within the scope of EU regulations. Products bearing the CE mark indicate that they have been assessed to comply with EU safety, health and environmental protection requirements. Products manufactured anywhere in the world require the CE mark if they are to be sold in the European Union.
How to acquire CE Mark:
As the manufacturer of the product, you are solely responsible for declaring compliance with all requirements. You do not need a license to affix the CE mark on your product, but before that, you must:
- Make sure the products comply with all EU regulations
- Determine whether the product can be self-evaluated or need to involve a designated third-party in the evaluation;
- Organize and archive a technical file that proves product compliance. Its content should include the followings:
- Company Name and Address Or the Authorized Representatives’
- Product Name
- Product Marking, like serial numbers
- Name and Address of Designer& Manufacturer
- Name and Address of Compliance Assessment Party
- Declaration on the Following of Complex Assessment Procedure
- Declaration of conformity
- Instructions and Marking
- Declaration on the Products ‘Compliance with the Related Regulations
- Declaration on Compliance with Technical Standards
- Components List
- Test Results
- Draw up and sign the Declaration of Conformity
How to use CE mark?
- The CE mark must be visible, clear and not damaged by friction.
- The CE mark consists of the first letter “CE”, and the vertical dimensions of the two letters should be the same and not less than 5mm (unless specified in the relevant product requirements).
- If you want to reduce or enlarge the CE mark on the product, you should zoom in equal proportions;
- As long as the first letter remains visible, the CE mark can take different forms (for example, color, solid or hollow).
- If the CE mark cannot be affixed to the product itself, it can be affixed to the packaging or any accompanying brochure
Notifications:
- If the product is subject to multiple EU directives/regulations and these directives/regulations require the CE mark to be affixed, the accompanying documents must show that the product complies with all applicable EU directives/regulations.
- Once your product bears the CE mark, you must provide them with all the information and supporting documents related to the CE mark if required by the national competent authority.
- The act of affixing the CE mark on products that do not need to be affixed with the CE mark is prohibited.
