▍BSMI Introduction Introduction of BSMI certification
BSMI is short for Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, established in 1930 and called National Metrology Bureau at that time. It is the supreme inspection organization in Republic of China in charge of the work on national standards, metrology and product inspection etc. The inspection standards of electrical appliances in Taiwan are enacted by BSMI. Products are authorized to use BSMI marking on the conditions that they are in compliance with safety requirements, EMC testing and other related tests.
Electrical appliances and electronic products are tested according to the following three schemes: type-approved (T), registration of product certification(R) and declaration of conformity (D).
▍What is the standard of BSMI?
On 20 November 2013, it is announced by BSMI that from 1st, May 2014, 3C secondary lithium cell/battery, secondary lithium power bank and 3C battery charger are not permitted to access to Taiwan market until they are inspected and qualified according to the relevant standards (as shown in table below).

Remarks: CNS 15364 1999 version is valid to 30 April 2014. Cell, battery and Mobile only conduct capacity test by CNS14857-2 (2002 version).

▍Why MCM?

On September 30, Zhaoqing High-tech Zone released several measures to save electricity to support the development of manufacturing industry, the document said, focusing on promoting the construction of energy storage, ice and cold storage projects. Firstly, enterprises in the zone who build energy storage and ice and cold storage projects will be given a subsidy of 150 YUAN / kW after completion and use, and the maximum subsidy for each enterprise in the zone is RMB 1 million. Secondly, in the period of off-peak power consumption, energy storage load can offset the load index of off-peak power consumption. Encourage tap water extraction, ice storage, energy storage, unfixed time processes and other enterprise processes to shift peak, transfer precious load indicators during peak hours to enterprises in urgent need. If the industrial enterprise uses electricity to produce electricity during the trough period (0:00-8:00), the subsidy will be 5% of the electricity generated. For the production of electricity in the flat section, the subsidy shall be 2% of the electricity generated.
For enterprises in the zone who use the roof and idle space to build photovoltaic power generation projects for their own use, they will be given a subsidy of 300 YUAN/kw after the completion of power generation and use, and the maximum subsidy for each enterprise in the zone is 1 million yuan.
